I'm using the 'Flash Hit Area Map' component (great product) and wanted to check if the following feature is available:-
1. I am developing a website with a number of database directories.
2. I want a single map using this component and want to inject a unique url into the script and then for the script to output this unique url.
3. The action of this will then navigate the user to a specific directory as each directory will have a set of unique urls.
4. Currently if I try this without injecting a unique url into the script the user is navigated to the url that contains the xml of the component. ie. if I place the xml in the root then the user would be navigate to the main website page.
5. I can resolve this by placing the map and component into each directory but I was hoping I could just use one map and xml as the number of directories will increase over time and it would mean I would have to have a map in each directory which is not practical, especially if for any reason I want to amend the map.

Thanks for downloading our component. The logic of the application cannot be changed. We just set an XML file that points the location of the points and the links to go when clicked. You can generate that XML file in order to go to different URLs in your website, using another technology, like PHP. I mean, when going to a page the input for the player will be an XML file and for another page, another XML file. That's what you can do.
If you need a different logic for the component, we could help you by doing custom work. Send an email at [email protected], if you're interested.

Thank you for your reply. We are trying to use the flash area map within Joomla, using a mod_rewrite to point subdomains to folders in the Joomla framework, and the snag appears not to be in the xml file but in how the framework handles the flash linking in general. We can get the flash applet to appear, and it all works correctly apart from the links. The linked areas glow red when hovered over and the pointer changes to a hand, but on clicking it does not direct the browser to the target url.
To check which part is causing the problem, we made a full copy of the page source code, including the javascript and divs which launch the flash applet, and pasted them into a static html file. When this file was accessed in a browser the links worked fine, as did using the flash within the direct link to the Jooma page, leading me to conclude that the problem is something to do with the mod_rewrite to the Joomla location.
Further testing showed that this problem disappeared when removing the [P] (proxywrite) flag from the mod_rewrite, however this makes the full url path appear in the browser rather than the short subdomain link.
Is this a known issue? Any thoughts on how this could be resolved?

Have you tested the component on your local machine or online? On your local machine the flash might not have permission to access external resources (including opening URLs). If you want this to change, please go to this link:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/docu...
and add a new location, which would become trusted. That would be the folder which contains the SWF files you're working with.
If the links don't open with the component available online, please share a link to it.
